How to Choose a Cabinet Maker

First and foremost, you go with someone with a sound reputation for quality. No joke, just recently I came across a job that needed to be completely gutted after another sub came in and did an incredibly sloppy job at building the cabinets and installing the trim. I'm not even going to mention the staircase . . . no, actually, I will. Never, and I mean NEVER, should a carpenter walk away from a stained tread staircase with gaps between the tread and the kickplate. I mean, really? What is a homeowner supposed to do with that? You can't caulk it because it's stained. The only thing you can do at that point is to cover it in carpet or rip it out.

Hopefully, this shoddy work is coming out. Now, as a customer, this is what you want to see from a carpenter you are wanting to hire - tight joints, clean cuts, perfect alignment, and stunning craftsmanship. After 35+ years in the business, I am still astounded that some carpenters think they can get away with such work. And perhaps, they do, after all, this one got away with half his pay without delivering anything resembling a quality job.

Second, professionalism and honesty. Again, the above-mentioned guy ranks on the bottom for these two qualities. Here at Kerce Cabinets and our sister shop, Kerce Carpentry, you can count on me and my son upholding these high standards. Your satisfaction with your custom kitchen cabinets or finish work in your new construction home or renovation is our priority.

Here are a few examples of trim and cabinetry gone wrong compared with what they should look like. All the 'gone wrong' examples are from jackleg carpenters . . . all the 'quality' comparables are from us at Kerce Cabinets.

Last, if you want quality, dependability, professionalism, honesty, and a stunning product that you will enjoy for years to come, choose a cabinet maker/carpenter who will deliver. In other words, choose Kerce Cabinetry / Kerce Carpenter for all your new construction or home renovation needs.
